PREFACE

The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of Southern States Midget/600 Series events and to establish the minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules will govern the condition of all events and by participating in these events all members are deemed to have complied with these rules. No expressed or implied warranty of safety will result from the publication of or compliance with these rules and/or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to participants, spectators or others.


The Southern States Midget/600 Series reserves the right to amend by addition or deletion any rule by notifying members, in writing or posting on Southern States Midget internet website. Rules involving safety may be imposed immediately and it is the responsibility of all participants to stay abreast of any and all rule changes. Rules governing car specifications may be amended at any time to ensure competitive racing. This is at the sole discretion of the SSMS/600 officials. Rules will be imposed as written. It is your responsibility to be familiar with all rules. SSMS/600 official’s decisions shall be final in all cases. All SSMS/600 membership dues are required to be paid prior to the first event in order to accumulate car owner and driver points.

Must be a member of SSMS/600 to race for points and contingency awards at any SSMS/600 events. Membership rates will be published prior to the start of each racing season. There will be three types of members; Car Owner, Driver, and Associate Member.

Any driver, owner or crew member that uses derogatory comments or actions at the track or on social media of any kind toward any Division II series, Regional or National will be subject to fine and or suspension. If you have questions that involve the series the proper channel of communication is through your regional director via e-mail-phone. Division II midget series would like for you to race with us but if not we hope you race with another series or track of your choice and we will always wish you the best of luck

a. Any Division II Series official or personal that makes any kind of a derogatory or inflammatory commits towards any other official, series, driver, owner or crew member will be subject to fine and or suspension

B. Division II series director has the right to refuse anyone participation of any event. Any fines or suspensions from 1 region will carry over to any other D-II region


C.  Rough driving will not be tolerated PERIOD. Any contact under a yellow flag condition will automatically result in a black flag and disqualification from that event with no points earned. Rough driving under green flag conditions will result in a black flag and the car and driver will be scored last in that race and awarded last place points. Any driver who fails to honor a black flag for rough driving will automatically receive a three (3) race suspension from SSMS/600 competition. At the discretion of the SSMS/600 officials a fine may be imposed as well.

D. Any driver or SSMS/600 member found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol during an event will receive a 1 year suspension from the date of infraction.

E.  Any driver or SSMS/600 member found to be under the influence of illegal substances will have their SSMS membership revoked and will be banned for life from SSMS/600 competition.

F.  Any driver that exits the car before safety crew arrives will be done for the night. (Unless the car in on fire or other safety concerns) Any driver driver that leaves a car on the track is an automatic 2 race suspension or driver/crew member that confronts another car while moving or throws any kind of object will be ban for 1 year from the date of infraction.


G.  Any DRIVER or CREW MEMBER that goes into some pit area or has a determined issue of physical or verbal abuse will be suspended for no less then 4 races.

H. Anyone that is has been fined or suspended has a right to file an appeal.

If you are driver that has been suspended you will be allowed to be in the pit area for 1st offense. 2nd offense is 6 month ban with no pit access.

3rd offense is a 1 year ban.

4th offense is a permanent lifetime ban

STOCK 600cc Engine

1)  If a change or modification to the stock engine or its parts is not included in these rules then the modification is considered illegal.

2)  The word “Stock” means unmodified factory original parts or components. Any 600cc 4 cylinder 4 stroke as comes on a stock production bike for public sale in the U.S.A. No current year production engines.


No Nitrous, turbo or superchargers permitted.


No porting/polishing or metal removal of any kind.

No Factory ported engines

Must have STOCK COMPRESSION


Must use stock production throttle body that came with that year,make and model. Do not have to use "Stock Air Box"

Modification of oil pan & pick up allowed or aftermarket ok. 
Modification to thermostat cover allowed or aftermarket ok. 
Modification to water pump cover allowed or aftermarket ok. 
Any air box, ECU must be same year, model as manufacture, aftermarket washable replacement air filter, power commander on fuel injection models only W/O Traction Control

For engine safety you will be allowed aftermarket chain tensioners 


Weight Rule: Stock 600 - 750 lbs., including driver, at the conclusion of the race. Any weight must be painted white with your #. Loss of any bolt-on weight during competition will disqualify the individual from that event.


No in-cockpit adjustments of any kind, if a panard adjustment is not removeable because of mounts it must be bolted with ny-locks nuts, no zip ties


Tires: (BONE STOCK) Open Tire rule; No prep


Must have STOCK on roll bar with contracting color on both sides for Scale personnel

600A Engines 

​MUST HAVE SERIAL # ON ENGINE


Any 600cc 4 cylinder 4 stroke as comes on a stock production bike for public sale in the U.S.A. No current year production engines.


Engines must be stock with stock unaltered parts for that year, make, and model of engine only.

No Nitrous, turbo or superchargers permitted.

No porting/polishing or metal removal of any kind. No Factory ported engines.

No removal of any metal from engine or head allowed other than a valve job.

Engines must be stock bore and stroke for that year, make, and model engine.

No aftermarket internal parts allowed with the exception of rod bolts and cam sprockets.

Aftermarket injection ok. NO MECHANICAL INJECTION.

Aftermarket cam chain tensioners, thermostat covers, water pump covers, aftermarket oil pans, and engine oil pickups are allowed.

Any air box, ECU must be same year, model as manufacture, aftermarket washable replacement air filter, power commander on fuel injection models only W/O Traction Control.


Stock ECU boxes modified for the use of methanol only.

Charging systems must be hooked up, working, and unaltered.

All cars must have a cockpit operated electric starter and an onboard battery capable of starting the engine.

All cars must be chain driven off of the original countershaft. 



Weight Rule: 600A - 775 lbs., including driver, at the conclusion of the race. Any weight must be painted white with your #. Loss of any bolt-on weight during competition will disqualify the individual from that event. 

No in-cockpit adjustments of any kind if a panard adjustment is not removeable because of mounts it must be bolted with ny-locks nuts, no zip ties


Tires: 600A any brand must punch 45 RR (no tolerance) No Prep


Must have 600A on roll bar with contracting color on both sides for Scale personnel

OUTLAW

MUST HAVE SERIAL # ON ENGINE

640cc MAX displacement. No Nitrous, turbo or superchargers permitted. NO Traction Control


Weight Rule: Outlaw - 820 lbs. , including driver, at the conclusion of the race. Any weight must be painted white with your #. Loss of any bolt-on weight during competition will disqualify the individual from that event. (this weight can be adjusted if needed)

No in-cockpit adjustments
of any kind, if a panard adjustment is not removeable because of mounts it must be bolted with ny-locks nuts, no zip ties

Tires: 
Outlaw Max Width 12.0".....Punch 50+ after speaking to manufactures 


Must have Outlaw on roll bar with contracting color on both sides for Scale personnel

Fuel Tanks:

Fuel tanks must be carried on the centerline of the chassis and must be mounted behind the driver. For driveshaft driven cars, a conventional midget style tail tank and bladder meeting SFI specification 28.2 is required. Maximum capacity for fuel tanks of this design is twenty-seven (27) gallons. For chain driven cars, fuel tank meeting SFI specification 28.1 is required. This tank must not protrude beyond the rear most cross member of the chassis. Maximum capacity for fuel tanks of this design is five (5) gallons. Cars utilizing this style tank must use a tail tank cover resembling a traditional midget style tail.

There will be no minimum capacity of the fuel tank. All fuel tanks must have a minimum of four mounts to the chassis. Fuel tanks may not be mounted to the chassis utilizing any portion of the access plates or the nut plates bonded into the fuel bladder. A protective cover may be used on the top of the tail tank providing it is no more than 9 inches in height, 12 inches in length and not wider than the top (head rest) of the tank.


Wheelbase:

Must be between 58" to 65" maximum
